Dzień 8, 8.09.18 Weiden- Nuernberg 90 km

Prezes Rady Ministrów 1997-2001, Przewodniczący Parlamentu Europejskiego w latach 2009-2012 skorzystał z naszego zaproszenia i potwierdził swoją obecność na finiszu biegu w Strasburgu! Mowa oczywiście o prof. Jerzym Buzku, legendzie polskich reform i parlamentaryzmu europejskiego.

W Lauf an der Pegnitz, ok. 18 km przed Norymbergą, czeka na nas Erwin Bittel.

Jutro czeka nas najdłuższy dystans 112 km do Aalen, potem drugi z kolei „zaledwie“ 109 do Herrenburga, następnie 98 do Kehl i runda honorowa przez Ren do Strasburga. Damy radę.

Polish Prime minister in 1997-2001, President of European Parliament between 2009 and 2012 has accepted our invitation and confirmed his presence during the finish of the run in Strasbourg! I mean, of course, Jerzy Buzek, legend, father of Polish reforms and European parliamentarism. Invitation had been sent by Ann Kuczkowska from LC Leszno – thank you very much Ann. His presence is for us and for FCR initiative enormously big accomplishment.

We were very enthusiastic because of the news, hence we ran to Nuremberg in exhilaration. Hot. Very hot. German bicyclist saw exhausted Hubert so he stopped and offered his water.

In Lauf an der Pegnitz, about 18 km Ahead of Nuremberg, there was Erwin Bittel. Slim, with big smile 50 years old in a hat with dense, grey hair – he is legend of German marathonist. Until now, he ran 281 marathons, among that in Paris I 2010. We ran it together, obviously both of us unaware, together with 50K runners. Fate has bind us together again although in different place, different time but with mutual passion – running.

Nuremberg is a city size of Poznan, it has also 1000 years of history partially connected to Polish history. There, in 1543, „De revolutionibus orbium coelestium” was printed for the first time in history, Copernicus masterpiece. It was also first place outside of Poland to publish work of Polish composer, Waclav from Szamotuły near Poznan. There died author of famous altar placed in St. Mary’s basilica in Cracow – Wit Stwosz. Maybe that is why Cracow is partner city to Nuremberg.

There was Nasser Ahmad with few local Lions – Hans- Hermann Ueffing waiting for us at the market. Many people walking by watched that greeting.

We are all feeling exhausted. Only 325 km left from planned 1049. So we ran 70% of the distance. Tomorrow, we are going to run the longest distance, 122 km to Aalen, then next one is “only” 109 km to Herrenburg and then 98 km to Kehl and honorary lap through Ren to Strasbourg. We are going to make it.
